The Remedial Bilingual Comprehensive High School (RBCHS)
This high school offers a bilingual curriculum that integrates remedial education strategies for students who require additional support in both English and French over seven years. By leveraging a diverse array of teaching methodologies, RBCHS strives to enhance students' academic performance while preparing them for higher education and career opportunities.
OUR STORY
The Community Education Centre (CEC) is undertaking the establishment of a Remedial Comprehensive Secondary School in Cameroon. The existing educational system in the country is inflexible and unable to accommodate the significant number of students seeking admission. Many individuals who do not succeed in the government’s Common Entrance Examination—an assessment required for entry into secondary school—are often disregarded and marginalized by the system. Since 1989, failure rates have consistently ranged from 30% to 40%. It is noteworthy that even those who successfully pass the examination do not receive guaranteed admission into secondary institutions.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide renewed educational opportunities for youth who have been excluded from the mainstream education system in Cameroon. To achieve this objective, the CEC intends to:
1. Deliver remedial education.
2. Provide training in vocational, technical, and small business skills.
These classes will empower students to become self-sufficient and responsible citizens, thus enabling them to contribute positively to the economic revitalization of their families and the nation as a whole. To advance this project, the CEC has secured 4.5 hectares of land in Buea, Cameroon.
