Remedial Nursery & Primary School

This school focuses on early childhood education, specifically aiming to identify and remediate literacy challenges among young learners. It employs targeted interventions to foster foundational reading and comprehension skills.

Happy Reader

Students are guided through their first six years of schooling with a direct emphasis on literacy instruction. What commenced in 1994 as a modest community library and a tranquil reading space has transformed into an essential resource for our community. The CRC Library has become a key asset for nursery and primary school pupils, secondary school students, and university scholars alike. Fully incorporated into our academic curriculum, the library has established itself as the cornerstone of our educational initiatives and will continue to be a central focus in the future.

The Children's Reading Corner:

The library serves both school pupils and the public, operating from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. It offers:

  • - An adult section that includes reference materials and fiction for adults.

  • - A dedicated children's corner featuring a diverse selection of books catering to various age groups.

  • - Educational board games.

  • - A study room accessible to the public each day from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, frequently utilized by students preparing for public examinations such as the GCE, university admissions tests, and teacher certification assessments.

Nutrition & Support

At CEC, we understand that a healthy body fuels a healthy mind. That's why, in our Nursery & Primary School project, we ensure that every child receives meals daily. We believe that by nourishing our students, we are laying the foundation for effective learning and growth. Together, we create an environment where every child can thrive.

THE PROBLEM

The living conditions within our community, specifically those affecting underserved populations, contribute to a significant number of vulnerable students who arrive at school without having had breakfast. Additionally, many families are unable to provide essential school supplies for their children. Consequently, educators cannot reliably anticipate that all students will possess the required materials for their studies. Conversely, when students are well-nourished, teachers experience a sense of relief that enables them to more effectively engage in the instructional process.

THE WORK

At CEC, we take pride in cultivating our own farms provide fresh, nutritious ingredients for our school meals. Our menu features staples like rice, beans, pigeon peas, and a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, ensuring our students enjoy wholesome and delicious meals every day. However, we face challenges in sourcing essential items such as meat, fish, and spices, which we must purchase due to limited farming capabilities. Despite collecting low school fees that barely cover teacher salaries, we remain committed to quality meals for our students.

Farming Leafy Greens

THE SOLUTION

We believe that with the right resources, we can cultivate special gardens and enhance our farm productivity through simple machines and additional farmers. Increased funding will allow us to purchase items wholesale, leading significant savings. This will enable us to establish small meal center, expanding our ability to feed children in our after-school programs those from other schools. Furthermore, this center can scale efforts to provide meals for secondary school students in the community, ensuring that no child goes hungry.
